Food Chain: Flow of Matter and Energy
The carbon cycle is affecting the seals.
- The carbon cycle moves carbon around between the atmosphere, ocean, soil, animals, and the vegetation that helps keeps the greenhouse effect stable.
- The release of an excessive amount of carbon in the air due to factories, cars, etc., accelerated the greenhouse effect which is causing global warming.
- Global warming means that the seal's habitat is in danger because the heat melts the snow, ice, and glaciers.
- There is little precipitation in the tundra but when it does rain, it supplies the plants with water.
- When there is precipitation it is usually snow.
- But since it's mainly ice in the tundra the snow turns into water which flows into the ocean then back into the clouds, this is a constant cycle in the tundra.
